My Statement of Faith

 

THE TRINITY: God the Father, God the Son (Jesus), and God the Holy Spirit. I believe in one true God who created the heavens and the earth and that God sent His son Jesus to die on the cross and raised Him on the third day to eliminate the gap that our sins once created between us and Him.  He did this so that we can live in eternity with Him upon recognizing our need for Him and receiving His perfect gift of salvation. I believe that after Jesus rose from the grave and ascended into heaven that God then imparted us with the gift of Holy Spirit.

SALVATION THROUGH GRACE: I believe that salvation from our sins is only through God's grace; that we have no ability to earn this salvation and that God only asks us to receive the gift of His son Jesus Christ. As my own son so simply puts it, 'Jesus died to take my sins and give me love.'

A SPIRIT-FILLED LIFE:  I believe that as Christians we experience deep intimacy with the Lord through the gift of His Holy Spirit and it is by His Holy Spirit that we can commune with Him and gain guidance from Him in every moment.  I believe the will of God is that as believers we live and walk in the Spirit, under the precious blood of Jesus Christ the Lamb.  I believe that the Holy Spirit speaks to us through scripture, but can also speak to us trough other people, dreams and our environment as He sees fit, because He knows how to reach each of our hearts perfectly.

SANCTIFICATION: I believe that after salvation the Lord leads us each on our personal, life-long journey of healing and freedom through a process called sanctification.  This is not a process that earns us God's love, but rather is a process where God collaborates with us and graciously does the work for us to remove any barriers hindering us from experiencing freedom and His love more deeply.  Sanctification doesn't EARN us God's love, but rather the process helps us EXPERIENCE His love. Sanctification occurs as one continues to read His words (scripture) to get to know Him more, talk with Him (prayer) and worship Him.

REPENTANCE AND ACCEPTANCE:   I believe that when we encounter Christ with sincere repentance, godly sorrow for sin, and genuine acceptance of the Lord Jesus Christ, that we are then justified through faith, through the blood of Jesus Christ.  Because of this, in place of condemnation we gain peace, assurance and favor with God because of His deep mercy and grace.

THE HOLY SCRIPTURES: I believe that the words in the Bible are the Words of the living God; written by men as they were inspired by the Holy Spirit.  I believe that the words of scripture are God-breathed and inerrant.

THE SECOND COMING OF CHRIST:  I believe that Christ is coming back again, to establish a new heaven and a new earth and that He will descend from Heaven in the clouds and that at this time all will be restored.
