EMDR for Affair Recovery
"You just have to move on." You might be hearing this statement from well-meaning friends and family after they have heard your story and heartbreak after the affair. You might even feel frustrated with yourself or like there is something wrong with you for not being able to just "move on." You might wonder when reliving this pain will ever stop.

I want you to understand that what you have experienced is a trauma and as a result, those who have experienced their partner or spouse having an affair can experience symptoms of trauma.

Due to this, some individuals recovering from betrayal trauma benefit from an evidenced-based trauma informed therapeutic modality called Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR).
EMDR helps individuals understand their traumatic responses, learn grounding techniques to support the body's experiences of intense emotions, and help the brain physically heal and refile traumatic memories and experiences around the betrayal.
EMDR is a structured approach that can help clients rebuild their internal sense of self after the affair.

EMDR can not only be helpful for the individual who has been betrayed, but also for the individual who has had the affair. This is because, affairs are often a form of coping with internal pain and EMDR can help individuals identify, understand and heal internal pain that is being coped with in ways that are damaging to their present day relationships.

I would love to help you find you again, as you journey through deepening your healing after the affair.
If you are searching for support, you are in the right place, because I believe your healing is possible with empathy, consistency, compassion and utilizing evidenced-based practices. Feel free to contact me, I would be honored to help you.
